Pastoral Plan Updates

Pastoral Plan Updates2025-02-11T13:04:46-05:00

Over two years ago, the Pastoral Plan committees began efforts to make SKS a stronger community of faith. Our areas of focus are broken into three committees: Liturgy Experience, Faith Sharing and Parishioner Engagement. The following are examples of how we have and continue to achieve progress in these areas of our parish community. Look for this logo around our parish to mark the other numerous areas of growth and achievement as a result of the Pastoral Plan!

Baptism at St. Katharine’s:  The First Sacrament

“Baptism is birth into the new life in Christ. In accordance with the Lord’s will, it is necessary for salvation, as is the Church herself, which we enter by Baptism.” CCC 1277   Baptism is a sacrament of initiation (along with Confirmation and the Eucharist), through which we are cleansed of original sin, receive the gift of eternal life and are welcomed into the Christian community. When Jesus, although sinless, was baptized by John the Baptist in the River Jordan, he accepted the burden of mankind’s sins and provided a [...]

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

You know that line of children you see leaving Mass before the scripture readings? They’re heading over to the parish center for Children’s Liturgy of the Word. Held every Sunday at the 9:30 Mass, Children’s Liturgy helps kids understand the day’s readings and connect the lessons to their own lives. While their parents listen to the word of God in church (child-free!), the liturgy leaders present the same scripture in simple language and use singing, crafts and other activities to engage the little ones. Liturgy Experience: Children’s Mass

The Liturgy Experience committee has planned thoughtfully over the last two years to create a monthly Children’s Mass that engages parishioners of all ages. Children are involved throughout the service: as greeters at the church doors, cantors, in the choir and at the altar for an interactive, kid-friendly homily. Look for this special celebration of faith to resume in September.

Parishioner Engagement: Successful Parish Coffee for Music Ministry

The SKS Music Ministry hosted a successful Parish Coffee on February 18! Parishioners of all ages filled the parish center after the 9:30 Mass for coffee, doughnuts and a service project sponsored by the Faithful Families ministry. Laura Kerr, our choir director, did a wonderful job highlighting the music ministry; she arranged for speakers at Mass and had choir members mingling with the coffee crowd, ready to answer questions. The choir signed 10 new members that day! The Pastoral Plan’s Parishioner Engagement committee has been very involved in building parish [...]

Parishioner Engagement: SKS at the Movies: Cabrini Sunday, March 10 at 1:30PM KOP United Artist Theater

Cabrini tells the inspiring story of Mother Francesca Cabrini, an Italian immigrant who fought to improve lives of the marginalized in the United States. Following her death, the tenacious nun was made the first American saint. Cabrini University was named after her. Let’s go to the movies! We are encouraging SKS parishioners to see Cabrini at the Regal in King of Prussia on March 10 at the 1:30pm matinee. Bring your families and friends so we can fill the theater!
